Dome Security Cameras:

Dome style security cameras are named obviously because of there semi-spherical shape.

They range from small to large and typically contain a compact security camera or mini security camera with extra circuitry, and are available in color, B & W and day/night versions. These security cameras also have the attribute of being fitted with a fixed or vari-focal lens and also can incorporate IR LEDS in Day/Night types. Standard dome security cameras are not weatherproof but can be mounted on walls and ceilings and are among the most popular security cameras because of there esthetic appearance and ability to conceal camera direction.

Dome Security Camera selection:

Selecting a dome security camera is fairly simple. First determine if the security camera will need to see in changing light conditions or low light situations. For changing light conditions a security camera with an Auto-Iris lens is always better and for low light situations a B & W or Day/Night security camera is best. Then confirm the focal distance and width to determine the lens that is needed. Last of all be sure to know the power requirements of the dome security camera.
