China’s frontier security camera manufacturers Hikvision and Dahua are releasing their Access Control systems internationally by this month. Since now, they were producing but only selling to Asia , from now on, they are stepping into the international market. With their lower prices and free licenses they are going to bring a tough competition to other manufacturers.

According to IPVM –one of the most reliable source of security and video surveillance information- “For 4-door controllers, Dahua's ASC1204B has an expected street price ~$300, while Hikvision's K2604 is price higher at ~$800. The Hikvision model includes a steel enclosure and power transformer the Dahua model does not, additional parts that cost <$75.

This pricing is significantly less than distribution prices of incumbent lines like Honeywell, Kantech, Keri and even Axis. Incumbent access providers are ~$1200 - $1450 for their 4 door controllers, and often charge additional licensing to add them to management software. Neither Dahua nor Hikvision charge access licensing.

Even 'non traditional' access vendors like Axis will be more expensive, with two AXIS A1001 Network Door Controllers (total of 4 doors controlled) will run more than $1000, roughly 20% more than Hikvision and 70% more than Dahua.”
