What happened to Sony Security Cameras?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Sony Security<\/a> is (was) one of the pioneers of video surveillance industry. Sony made an announcement in 2016<\/a> that starting from 2017 they will partner up with Bosch to distribute Sony Security products in United States. That was interesting as we don’t see many partnerships within security industry. Starting 2017, we were directed to work with Bosch North America sales team when it comes to lead times, order fulfillments and stock checks. The lead times initially were about 1-2 weeks and it got worse as the time go by. By the end of 2019, the lead times become 2 months on many products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was however a move that Sony seems to make when they are exiting an industry. Sony had made a similar move with Sony-Ericsson partnership back in cellphone industry back in 2001 and at the end they acquired Ericsson’s share in 2012<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We shared Sony Security exiting video surveillance industry<\/a> in 2020 and they exited video surveillance so they are no longer manufacturing any of their cameras however we still have some inventory for our long time Sony customers.
