Following Hikvision<\/a>, Dahua<\/a> is releasing a new storage saver, high resolution codec called Smart H.265+. Actually it is not a new technology, just an improved version of H.265 codec.

Accoring to Dahua<\/a> \u201cSmart H.265+ technology is a collection of intelligent encoding algorithms developed by Dahua<\/a> technology based on H.265. To meet the characteristics of video surveillance, Smart265+ adopts some key video encoding techniques and these techniques can be flexibly added\/deleted or combined according to different applications and products. Smart H.265+ codec can effectively enhance video encoding efficiency according to the characteristics of different surveillance environments; furthermore, it can greatly reduce transmission bit rate, storage capacity to improve the overall system CAPEX\/OPEX\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main differences are decreased bitrate (the number of bits that are trasferred or processed per unit of time.) and reduced bandwidth (the rate of data transfer measured in bits per second (bit\/s)).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dahua<\/a> states that “The noise of the surveillance video is usually high when the application area is uncertain and the light condition is poor. The noise can not only affect the video quality, but consume more encoding bit rate as well. It is necessary to control the noise and implement better controlling strategy for video encoding. The traditional noise reduction strategy is generally to take the video scene as a whole and intense noise reduction techniques can delete some video details during noise reduction. It is hard to find the balance between these two factors in traditional noise reduction techniques. Based on the video analytics technology, the Smart H.265+ technology generally separates\/distinguishes the motion area from the background area and adopts different noise reduction levels for motion and background area (see figure 7). In this way, it can not only reduce the noise, but also guarantee the ROI video quality. Especially for the high noise environment such as surveillance scene at night, it cangreatly improve the encoding bit rate”.Noise suppression control is the main difference of Dahua’s Smart H.265+ than Hikvision’s H.265+<\/a> codec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

H.265+ takes a picture of stable environment ,uses it as background frame and focuses only on the moving objects. When there is a disruption in the surveillance area, H265+ takes picture of the moving object and uses it as reference frame. If the object keeps moving , system only adds moving objects data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Hikvision<\/a> has presented H.265+<\/a> , Dahua releases new Smart H.265+ . H.265+ is based on H.265<\/a> \/HEVC encoders with the same resolution but requires much less bandwidth and storage capacity. .This new technology extends the application of the ultra HD video in video surveillance, such as 8MP and 12MP devices. It is going to play a significant role in cutting the storage cost and promoting the ultra-HD video popularity. Now we will wait and see the other surveillance camera manufacturers response to this new technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
