How to Enable Remote Access to a Security Camera or Recorder from Netgear Router?

  • Step 1: Login to the Netgear router via the default gateway address.

To port forward a Netgear router, open your browser and type your IP Address into the bar and hit enter. If you do not know your IP address, type CMD into the Run tool and then type IPCONFIG. Write down the IP address to the right of IPv4 Address.

  • Step 2: Once at the Netgear page, hit Advanced and go to Port Forwarding (located on the left).

  • Step 3: Hit “Add Service.”

This will take you to the Port Forwarding page.

  • Step 4: From here, type in IP Address and the ports you wish to open to it. Also, for organizational purposes, we suggest putting in the exact name of the hardware being opened in the name bar, such as “IP Camera 1”. Keep both TCP and UDP open.

  • Step 5: When everything is punched in, hit APPLY and that’s it!
