Retail Security Camera System
Shoplifting and employee theft cost your average retail store thousands. Security cameras act as a deterrent reducing theft and offering peace of mind to your customers. In addition, video evidence is crucial in capturing the perpetrator should a theft occur.
When installing a security camera system it is important to get consultation from someone you can trust. A1 Security Cameras has been designing retail security systems for over 10 years. We know the industry and we know the challenges that you face.
Below we have included a few details from a retail store we worked with in Lakeland Florida. We know that every retail store has different challenges so we invite you to give one of our video surveillance experts a call so we can build the best system for your store.
This store had a small sales floor with six-foot shelves covering most of it creating many blind spots. They needed a camera with a wide-angle field of view and high definition resolution so we could get above the shelves and get coverage of the whole store.
The owner wanted himself and two of his store managers to have access to their camera system footage from their mobile device at all times. A good remote viewing mobile app was important.
They also needed a camera pointing at the front door capturing incoming patrons. This camera needed to be able to handle the bright light that would be coming in from the glass door. We would need WDR (wide dynamic range) to handle this high contrast lighting environment.
The back entrance was a vital security concern. Several times the owner suspected internal shrinkage and the back door was the path of the least resistance for the thieves. They needed an ultra-high resolution camera with WDR to handle the bright light when the door was open.
A cash register camera was on the top of their list. They needed a camera that could identify the placement of each bill and the selection on the cash register screen. Once again ultra-high resolution video was needed to accomplish this task
Due to the demand for extremely high resolution as well as wide dynamic range ability for the front and back door cameras, we chose to go with the 2K IP camera system above. The small vandal proof domes provided powerful 4-megapixel resolution while also offering aesthetically pleasing design.
Security Camera Systems Features
The fixed length or vari-focal length refers to the ability to adjust the camera’s field of view. The smaller the lens size, the wider the field of view. Fixed lenses will be fixed for the life of the camera but vari-focal lenses can be adjusted to have the best field of view. Vari-focal lenses are two kinds, manual and auto. If you choose manual vari-focal lense, you will need to hold the camera adjust the focal length where as if you choose motorized vari-focal lens, you will be able to perform the same task from your computer. That is the main difference.
