The Ubiquiti ECS-48S-POE is an enterprise-grade Layer 3 managed switch engineered for high-density access-layer deployments where PoE budget, high-speed uplinks, and stack-based redundancy all matter. The 48-port PoE+++ (90 W per port) design pairs 32 x 2.5 GbE ports and 16 x 10 GbE ports on the access side with four 25G SFP28 uplinks and two 100G QSFP28 uplinks for aggregation — enough headroom to feed dense Wi-Fi 6E/7 deployments, PoE-powered surveillance cameras, and PoE-powered access control from a single 1U appliance.

Dual hot-swappable 1,200 W AC/DC power supplies provide redundant power with 2,150 W of total PoE budget in shared mode on 200-240 V AC circuits, or 950 W in redundant mode for higher availability. Four hot-swappable fan modules and hot-swappable PSUs eliminate single-point-of-failure risk in mission-critical closets. Switch stacking with cross-stack LAG allows two or more units to appear as a single logical switch, distributing links across chassis for chassis-fault tolerance without proprietary licensing.

The Layer 3 feature set includes DHCP server and relay, inter-VLAN routing, and static IPv4 routing (up to 512 routes) for local networks — enough to run distributed office and campus environments without a separate router. Layer 2 features cover LACP port aggregation, cross-stack LAG, STP/RSTP, QoS with DSCP, jumbo frames, and full 802.1X access control. Advanced IGMP configuration with querier, fast-leave, and router port options plus IGMP snooping delivers efficient multicast for IPTV, digital signage, and Pro AV applications, and pre-configured Pro AV profiles (Play, Dante, Q-SYS, NDI, SDVoE, Shure, AES67, Crestron) simplify AV deployments.

Etherlighting on both Ethernet and SFP28 ports provides at-a-glance link status without a monitor, and a 1.3" front-panel touchscreen gives on-device visibility into switch state. A dedicated Ethernet OOB management port and serial console preserve remote access even when the data plane is impacted. The unit is NDAA compliant, CE / FCC / IC certified, and features ±30 kV air / ±19 kV contact ESD protection for reliable operation in demanding electrical environments.
