Speco Mobile Security App

Speco Mobile can be set up by going to the Settings in the upper left (the cog) and inputting your DNS (address) and port number. One of the cooler features about the Speco Mobile is that you can have it connected to your celluar data plan and you can also put a bandwidth limit on it. I’m surprised more apps do not have this functionality – it’s awfully easy to forget that you are streaming the footage directly onto your phone even when you’re not looking at it. Doing so is like accidentally leaving a door open in Texas with the A/C on full blast.

Speco Mobile Security App

Speco is upfront about the reality if remotely viewing your surveillance systems!

Speco’s mobile app can be found on iOS or Android app stores. It is free and comes with a demo so you can get a good look at its features.

The app also includes sharp export capabilities, including sending it directly to your mailbox. You can also password lock the app. Again, something that’s missing from many other apps!

Speco Player

Speco Player is designed to work with the VS, WVS, WRSP, DS, WDS, NS, NSP, Zip Kit, RS, WRS, and HD DVR models of Speco Technologies. With Speco Player, users can get a remote viewing of their surveillance systems either through live viewing or playback access. This app keeps you in constant contact with the DVR.

  • Dynamic IP via ddns.specoddns.net
  • View up to 16 channels at a time in 4-camera blocks
  • PTZ controls via on-screen arrow buttons

To add devices to the Speco Player, hit the + symbol in the upper right. This will take you to the ‘My Site’ page. From here, you need to punch in your site name, IP/DNS name, port #, your Speco DVR ID and password.

  • The Speco Player comes with an incredible demo pre-installed. I’m using the demo for demonstration purposes here.
  • On the live viewing, the demo shows up to 16 cameras. You can modify the shown camera totals at slots of 1, 4, 9, 10 or 16.
  • You can easily move and organize the cameras however you like. They are easily shifted around simply by sliding your finger across the screen.
  • Double clicking one of the cameras brings its viewing to a full screen. The frame rate is excellent
  • PTZ controls are offered via on-screen arrow buttons.
  • Zooming in is simple. While most cameras will automatically refocus, there is also a button for users to manually refocus their equipment.
  • There is also a microphone feature. If your camera has an on-board microphone, you can talk through it.
  • Playback includes your basic playback features, such as going down a timeline, as well as playbacks centered around triggered events (motion detection, for example).
