Hikvision’s New "Storage Saver" H.265+ Encoding Technology


Over the past 10 years, surveillance manufacturers developed various encoders from MJPEG to H.265 . The main objective is to achive higher resolution with lower bandwidth.While other companies are still struggling for upgrade to H.265, Hikvision has once again proven their ability to excel in the surveillance industy by raising the bar with their new H.265+ encoder.

What are the differences between H.264, H.265 and H.265+?

For not to bother you with technicalities,let’s keep it as simple as possible. The main differences are decreased bitrate (the number of bits that are trasferred or processed per unit of time.) and reduced bandwidth (the rate of data transfer measured in bits per second (bit/s)).

H.265+ takes a picture of stable environment ,uses it as background frame and focuses only on the moving objects. When there is a disruption in the surveillance area, H265+ takes picture of the moving object and uses it as reference frame. If the object keeps moving , system only adds moving objects data.


Hikvision presents H.265+ encoder which is an unmatch technology in surveillance industry . H.265+ is based on H.265 /HEVC encoders with the same resolution but requires much less bandwidth and storage capacity. . It extends the application of the ultra HD video in video surveillance, such as 8MP and 12MP devices. It is going to play a significant role in cutting the storage cost and promoting the ultra-HD video popularity.
