The number of people in the store is monitored by a crowd counting camera. Based on the number, SOM inserts a graphic overlay into the video, instructing customers to enter the shop or wait outside.

What you can do with Store Occupancy Manager?
Limit store occupancy
A big-screen TV next to the store entrance showing graphic overlays and animations based on the number of customers in the store. When the occupancy limit has been reached, a predefined message appears on the screen, informing potential customers to wait outside the store.
Prevent shoplifting
The source of the video for the TV screen is an overview camera that monitors the store. This public view monitor prevents shoplifting by letting customers know the store is being monitored.
Display promotional marketing
Show up to four graphic overlays at a time on your big-screen TVs. Perfect for attracting customers with animations, brand logos, info tickers, videos and promo banners. Additionally, display of graphic overlays can be automatized using set conditions and managed remotely with API.
Trigger actions
SOM can also trigger other actions to meet different process requirements. It can, for example, switch indication LEDs on and off, play audio messages on connected speakers, control automatic doors, remotely notify a security officer of excess occupancy, or send notifications to external systems over the network.
Features
Accurate occupancy data
SOM retrieves data AXIS Occupancy Estimator or up to four cameras with AXIS People Counter, an in-camera ACAP app. Alternatively, XOVIS counters can be used to source occupancy data. Accuracy of crowd-counting cameras is 95-99 percent, SOM therefore offers the option to manually correct the data to eliminate errors in real life situations.
Local network broadcasting
SOM doesn't require a computer or internet connection to broadcast. The video output is available on a webpage accessible via local network. Big-screen TVs, monitors and tablets either need local network connection and a browser to open the video or a HDMI port connection.
Axis Events compatibility
SOM generates events directly in the standardized AXIS Events engine. Use the same sophisticated triggering logic as available for AXIS network cameras and switch indication LEDs on and off, play audio messages on connected speakers, or remotely notify a security officer of excess occupancy or any other event-initiated action.
Compatible with many AXIS cameras
The easiest solution is based on AXIS M3064-V Network camera / AXIS M3065-V Network camera where both ACAP apps can run - counting app AXIS Occupancy Estimator or AXIS People Counter and SOM. Check the full list of compatible cameras below.
Simple Integration
The solution can be built independently or as an addition to existing security infrastructure. This solution can also run with current counting cameras and current AXIS surveillance cameras. Integration options are described in detail in our Technical guide. SOM is VMS agnostic which makes it a great choice for all possible scenarios.
Display up to four graphic overlays
Other graphic overlays can be used in combination with SOM. The number of concurrent overlays depends on camera type: ARTPEC-5 cameras are limited to two concurrent graphic overlays while Ambrella and ARTPEC-6/7 cameras can display up to four at the same time.
Communicate visually using animated GIFs
Store Occupancy Manager can show eye-catching animations to attract visitors. Note: animated GIFs run only on ARTPEC-6/7 cameras.
Supports text info ticker widget
One of the graphics overlays can be a handy text info ticker. You can display info for your visitors or promote your products directly on a big-screen TV. The displayed text can also be pulled from a text file on your shared marketing drive.
Powerful API at your command
Store Occupancy Manager can also be controlled via its application interface (API), meaning you can configure it remotely or feed it graphics and texts from your network shared drive, all in a matter of seconds.
