The output sound quality is decent enough to consider it as an upgrade from the built-in camera microphones. What drags it down is that it only works with Axis products. The lack of interconnectivity push it down the list of microphones to buy. The length of the cord makes you position the microphone very carefully and finding the right balance of distance from source and proximity to video feed can be a bit of trial and error.

The benefit of using the Axis cable is that they are made of the same material as the mic cord meaning it has the same flexibility and ease of use.
