Description
Ubiquiti UACC-RETROFIT-POE-2WIRE PoE++ to PoE+ 2-Wire Retrofit PoE Extender
The Ubiquiti UACC-RETROFIT-POE-2WIRE is a pair of PoE extender devices that enables PoE delivery over existing 2-wire twisted-pair or coaxial (BNC) cabling infrastructure — eliminating the need to run new Ethernet drops in retrofit and renovation scenarios. Designed specifically for environments where Cat5e/6 rewiring is impractical or cost-prohibitive, it bridges the gap between modern PoE++ (802.3bt) power sources and PoE+ (802.3at) powered devices using Homeplug AV technology over the existing wire plant.
The system operates as a matched pair: the PoE input unit accepts PoE++ (50V DC, 1.2A) from an upstream switch and transmits both data and power over a single twisted pair or coaxial run, while the PoE output unit delivers PoE+ (48V DC, 0.6A) to the connected device at the far end. A 10/100 MbE networking interface is provided on each unit, with a BNC female coaxial connector for direct connection to existing coax infrastructure. ESD/EMP protection up to ±8kV air and ±4kV contact safeguards both units against electrical transients. Standby power consumption is just 3W (excluding PoE output), keeping operational costs low.
The polycarbonate enclosure is compact and lightweight, with the PoE in and out units weighing 77g and 79g respectively. This solution is ideal for adding IP cameras, access control readers, or other PoE-powered devices to buildings where structured cabling upgrades are not feasible.
Key Features:
- Extends PoE over 2-wire twisted-pair or coaxial (BNC) cable; enables PoE device deployment in retrofit environments without new Ethernet cabling.
- PoE++ input (50V DC, 1.2A) to PoE+ output (48V DC, 0.6A); supports a wide range of PoE+ powered devices at the remote end.
- Homeplug AV technology over existing wire plant; leverages installed twisted-pair or coax infrastructure for combined data and power transmission.
- BNC female coaxial connector; direct compatibility with legacy coaxial cabling commonly found in older CCTV and analog camera installations.
- 10/100 MbE networking interface on each unit; provides standard Ethernet connectivity for IP cameras, access readers, and similar devices.
- ESD/EMP protection ±8kV air / ±4kV contact; protects both units from electrical transients in field-deployed environments.
- 3W max standby consumption (excluding PoE output); energy-efficient operation for always-on network edge deployments.
