As far as bullet cameras go the HIKVISION is not to be taken lightly. A product of world’s “number one” video surveillance product manufacturer the camera takes its job very seriously. The camera has a motorized lens which can be adjusted between 2.8 to 12 mm. The 4 MP camera can capture high definition video with 30 fps frame rate. The camera is suited for indoor / outdoor use and is resistant to weather. The camera carries an alarm input and output with an IR range of around 30 meters. There is built-in SD card storage of up to 128 GB. The camera should be used where there is a need to have a clear picture without covering a large area. The best place for this camera is covering a hall or narrow street. The built-in microphone can record sound but for crystal clear audio investing in a separate mic will be better.

A very dependable security alarm. The camera alarm can be triggered by line crossing, tampering, motion detection, network disconnect or IP address conflict. The camera is best suited for use as part of an alarm system. The high definition quality of the images and the frame rate make it a sound choice for areas prone to break ins. There is a catch at any given time there can only be one alarm input and output. While some cameras have the ability to have multiple inputs and outputs the Hikvision sadly does not.

Image adjustment is a big plus. Through the client software provided or simply through your browser the sharpness, saturation, brightness, and / or contrast can be adjusted. For cameras placed in low light areas this can be a huge advantage. Even though the camera has a built-in IR throw there are some cases where image editing is required. Instead of having to look for a specific software and converting the video a part of a dedicated software is tasked to handle the job. Being able to play with the levels and color of an image can reveal or highlight details otherwise missed.
