The AXIS P3947-R M12 3.6 mm is a rugged, AI-powered 5MP indoor dome camera built for onboard surveillance on trains and trams. It records 2592x1944 video at 25/30 fps with or without Forensic WDR, and 1920x1080 at up to 50/60 fps without WDR, using a 1/2.8" progressive scan RGB CMOS sensor. This variant features a fixed 3.6mm F2.0 M12-mount lens with an 83° horizontal and 60° vertical field of view and a minimum focus distance of 0.3 m (0.98 ft), and connects through a rugged female D-coded M12 connector with a rotatable coupling nut. This package contains 10 cameras, a practical option for equipping multiple vehicles or an entire fleet with identical units.

Lightfinder 2.0 preserves color in low light down to 0.16 lux, while Forensic WDR of up to 120 dB balances bright windows against darker interiors. Scene profiles (forensic, vivid and traffic overview) help optimize image settings for each environment. A deep learning processing unit on the CV75 system-on-chip runs the included AXIS Video Motion Detection and AXIS Tampering Detection and supports third-party ACAP applications, and H.264, H.265 and Motion JPEG compression with Axis Zipstream keeps bandwidth and storage use under control.

Designed for rail, this M12 variant is certified to EN 50155 (Class OT1/ST2), EN 45545-2 fire safety and EN 50121-3-2 rolling stock EMC, complies with the UNIFE Railway Industry Substance List, and meets IEC 61373 and IEC 60721-3-5 Class 5M3 for vibration and shock. Its aluminum and plastic casing is rated IP66, IP67, NEMA 4X and IK10, and when used with the AXIS TP3826-E housing it can be mounted externally on trams. A built-in microphone with a physical switch adds audio to recorded video. The camera is powered by PoE (IEEE 802.3af Class 2, max 4.42 W), supports encrypted microSD/SDHC/SDXC edge storage, and is protected by the Axis Edge Vault cybersecurity platform with signed video and secure boot. It is TAA and NDAA compliant and backed by a 5-year warranty.
