I really like oculur products for their price range. For someone setting up a security system for the first time is a scary challenge. Searching online you will come across amazing devices with even more amazing price tags which I won’t be covering anytime soon. I didn’t have to dish out unnecessary amounts of cash.
Satisfying to work with. The recorder has more than enough ample storage space. In case of extra storage the 8 TB capacity will cover it. It would have been nicer if the storage space could be covered with a single HDD connection. The recorder has two HDD slots so you need two 4 TB hard drives.
Better even against oculur’s own products. The last recorder I purchase happened to be from Oculur as well. The only shortcoming was that recorderd could only support four cameras. The upgrade didn’t cost as much as I thought it would. The price difference between the two recorders is around a hundred bucks.
Not that great. The price is somewhat reasonable unless you order it with the hard drives. Getting the recorder with the two 4 TB is around double of what the recorder cost. So with the two drives you are paying fro two and half recorders. There is a plus side, you can find drives for cheaper that are compatible.
The recorder is a great edition to a security system. Since it can support eight cameras it can be used for the house or even a small business. The recorder isn’t limited by recording quality either. It can handle footage from a 6 MP camera with ease and play it back in HD. I ordered the device and it arrived within three days. Set up was pretty easy. All the camera ports have power over Ethernet and I ended up removing sections of cable from the system as they were not needed anymore.
Going for a budget system a cheap NVR is a good start. I made the mistake of ordering the NVR with two hard drives. Only after setting up the system I came to know that other compatible hard drives are available for cheaper. The recorder works great though and I only came across one problem. A camera’s feed would continuously drop and turned to be because of stripped insulation on the cable. Till that point I was certain it was the recorder. Great thing is the playback function. At a single time you can see feed from all the cameras.
